Lift Chairs

There are many people who find the simple act of sitting down or getting back up out of a chair to be extremely difficult, exhausting, or utterly impossible. This may be due to an illness, recent surgery, muscular dystrophy, advanced age, arthritis, or a host of other reasons.

Perhaps the best solution for people who suffer from this problem is the use of a lift chair. Lift chairs are controlled by small internal motors that bring the chair from a reclined or seated position to an upright position. That allows for people to lean back against the chair and be gently shifted into a seated position, or to be slowly lifted back up to where they can step away from the chair without any pain, strain, or difficulty.

3 standard types of lift chairs are available:

Two-position chairs

These chairs go from the upright position to a 45-degree angle. This is the most common angle for any type of chair and is often referred to as the television angle because it is generally considered the most comfortable angle to use when watching TV. Two-position chairs can also be set at any angle that falls in between the seated and upright positions.

Three-position chairs

A three-position chair works in the same way as a two-position, but it will also fully recline. People often place their chairs at this angle to sleep in, which eliminates the need to get up and go to a bed for a nap.

Infinite position chairs

The infinite chair is capable of being situated in any position the user prefers. It has a full tilt and angle capability, which allows the chair operator to find the position that is most comfortable and relaxing for them.

All chair lifts will give people the ability to get in and out of chairs without having to ask anyone for assistance. This offers people a feeling of personal freedom and control they may be otherwise lacking.

When deciding on which chair to purchase, consider the main purpose the chair will be serving. It could be utilized for sitting to watch television, or for longer term usage which might include sleep time. Find the one that is right for you based on budget and personal preference, and regain the freedom of being able to accomplish the task of sitting or reclining in a cushioned chair.
