Pouches

Pouches allow wheelchair users to take personal items with them wherever they need to go or to manage a quick shopping trip without any assistance. Usually they are designed as a backpack that stretches across the rear of the chair.

Types of pouches

Wheelchair pouches can be found to suit almost any need. You may want a pouch that is designed to carry specific items such as change, glasses, or a phone. There are pouches that come with compartments that are specifically designed to hold all of these items.and more. This makes transporting and locating each item quite convenient because it is easy to keep them in the same place at all times.

Other pouches are designed for shopping excursions and are available with very deep pockets that can hold groceries or household products. When you want a pouch for shopping, it is best to purchase a sturdier model that can carry a greater amount of weight for items such as milk or juice.

Most pouches feature a basic hook-and-loop system of attachment on the back, which makes it easy to clip onto any wheelchair. They have adjustable straps so that the person using it may determine what height at which the pouch rests on the chair. Certain models also feature straps on the bottom, which connect to the braces underneath the chair and help to stabilize the pouch during movement.

Larger backpacks

People who are looking for extra storage space may prefer to invest in a large backpack-style pouch. This provides ample room to accommodate larger shopping trips or lug additional personal items. It could be beneficial to anyone who is going out of town overnight or needs to purchase many different things on the same outing. The larger backpack pouches are a little more expensive, but they offer added freedom with extra space and may save someone from making several trips back and forth to a vehicle to drop off purchases.

Drink pouches

One of the smaller types of pouches is the drink pouch. It is designed to hold a beverage of most any size and keep it within reach for chair users. In most cases, the pouch is insulated, so it will help keep a drink either hot or cold for a longer period of time.

Pouches offer wheelchair users a higher level of independence. With a pouch on the back of a chair, people will be able to shop and transport goods independently.
